Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX

I’ve always been a big fan of dungeon rpg games, and I never cease to get addicted to exploring randomly generated floors and playing in a pseudo-turn-based system.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a nostalgic and refreshing remake of the classic Mystery Dungeon series, Red and Blue Rescue Team. Now more bright and colorful, Mystery Dungeon DX is another great adventure to old and new players alike.

Watercolor in Every Way

What makes Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX beautiful is the amazing watercolor graphics. Compared to the graphics of Pokemon Sword/Shield and Pokemon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee, Mystery Dungeon DX stands out with unique graphic design. When I’m playing the game, it feels like I’m watching a painting come to life. It’s interesting that in every menu, there’s a variety of background art, and I can press a button just to appreciate them. Just by looking at the colorful scenery of the game makes me want to do art and try to copy a scene there.

Your Daily Dungeon Experience

The gameplay of Mystery Dungeon DX is pretty much direct to the point: Make Pokemon teams to journey in randomly-generated dungeons to rescue other Pokemon and look for treasures. It’s nothing new, and it can get pretty much repetitive. The story however, saved the game from getting too boring, since each quests grants you a chance to encounter legendary and shiny Pokemon, and a heartwarming plot.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team is like cotton candy. It’s simple and light, yet sweet and fluffy. It may not satisfy your craving for intense adventure, but it’s enough to give you a trip back to your childhood. Rate: 7/10
