Monster Hunter Rise

When Monster Hunter Rise was announced for Nintendo Switch, everyone became hyped about it. It became so much of a spotlight that on the launch day itself, some companies decided to make it a holiday and let people off work so they could enjoy a marathon of monster hunting.

But let’s face it, Monster Hunter is just another cycle of beating up behemoths, crafting cool weapons and armor from their materials, and then rinse and repeat. So why are we still so hyped about it?

New Play-Styles

In the past Monster Hunter games, there are some little things that make each game unique. For example, Monster Hunter Generations had “Hunting Styles”, while Monster Hunter World/Iceborne had the Slinger and the Clutch Claw. Finally, here in Monster Hunter Rise we have wirebugs. Wirebugs in MH Rise make everything much more flexible. You can be an aerial-oriented hunter with a heavy weapon like the Great Sword or Hammer, or you can deal huge amounts of damage with fast and small weapons like the Dual Blades. All in all, the playstyle options just became more flexible.

Everyone is Here!

We all know that Monster Hunter has the cutest cat partners–felynes or palicoes. If that isn’t enough, MH Rise added another cute partner for us–palamutes! These fluffy doggos help us hunt by fighting the titans, and help us chase them by letting us ride on their backs. And that’s not all, we also have a little owl called a cohoot to join us on our adventure! So now we have a cat, a dog, and a bird… That’s a complete package!

Titan Smashing RPG

Let’s face it, we all love huge facing huge monsters, and getting pumped up slashing around them like a Survey Corps soldier. And you can’t beat the feeling of finally toppling the monster just by yourself or with a group of friends.

Monster Hunter Rise, even though your general formula is still the same, our hype will also be the same. No doubt the Monster Hunter series will have a special place in our gaming hearts.
